CCSD Recommended For
Re-Accreditation From SACS
The Cobb County Board of Education learned today that the District will receive a recommendation for a five-year re-accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). Cobb first earned district accreditation in 2004 and was one of the first three schools in the nation to receive the designation. Read more

Cobb ITBS Scores
Top National Averages

Cobb County students performed well above the national average on the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills, according to recently released results. The ITBS is administered in September to students in grades 3, 5 and 7. Cobb third graders had an average composite score of 68th percentile, equal to or better than 68 percent of all other third grade students who participated in the ITBS nationwide. Composite scores for fifth graders ranked in the 66th percentile nationally, while seventh graders scored in the 62nd percentile. Read more

Board of Education Approves
Three-Year Balanced Calendar

The Cobb County Board of Education approved a balanced calendar for the 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years during its Nov. 11, 2009 meeting. Each school year will begin the first week of August and end the Friday prior to Memorial Day in May. The 180-day balanced calendar includes one-week mid-term breaks for students and teachers in September and February and a full week of Thanksgiving holidays. The first semester of each school year will conclude before the winter holidays in December. Read more

Board of Education Seeks Input On Strategic Plan
In January 2009, the Board of Education created a set of priorities to guide the school district’s efforts with continuous improvement. The Board of Education directed staff to present a measured strategic plan that mirrored their stated priorities and improved system accountability. Five Schools Named 2009 Schools of Excellence
Five Cobb County schools have been named 2009 Georgia Schools of Excellence by the Georgia Department of Education. For the second consecutive year, Cobb had the highest number of Schools of Excellence from any school district in the state! Ford Elementary, Mableton Elementary, Teasley Elementary, Dodgen Middle and Pope High schools are among just 27 across Georgia to receive the honor. Read more about the Cobb Schools of Excellence.
